Luxury Destination Wedding in Turks and Caicos

After documenting our first wedding at Triton in summer 2017, Ileana from Attimi Photography was called back for the wedding of Dana and Mark. This fun-loving couple wanted their wedding to be all about the people. Beyond tying the knot, their goal was for everyone to simply have a good time—and it’s safe to say their mission was accomplished.

Dana and Mark thought outside the box for their Turks & Caicos wedding at Triton, casually greeting their guests at the door in T-shirts and shorts. After spending some time with their guests, they retreated back to their dressing rooms and emerged in wedding attire, looking absolutely stunning and ready to say ‘I do.”

Most couples who get married in the Turks & Caicos tend to get married on the beach. Dana and Mark opted for a beach view without the sand, saying their vows by the infinity pool overlooking the ocean on Long Bay Beach. The couple hosted the reception dinner inside the villa, then moved the party back outside for live music and dancing.

Puppies Await You in Turks & Caicos

World-class beaches. The clearest, bluest waters you’ve ever seen. Warm, sunny weather most of the year. And puppies—a whole lot of them.

Yes, one of the most beautiful islands in the world is also home to Potcake Place—an animal shelter that encourages visitors to take their puppies out for walks during the day, and in many cases, to adopt one. “Potcake” is the name given to the mixed-breed dogs found throughout the Turks & Caicos and the Bahamas, known for their cocked ears and curly tails.

Every year, about 600 potcakes are adopted from Potcake Place, with potcakes being relocated to Dallas, Boston, Los Angeles, Toronto, and dozens of other places.. The volunteers at the dog rescue charity aim to socialize the potcakes by allowing visitors to take the pups for walks. And as you can imagine, it’s become quite a popular activity on the list of things to do in Turks & Caicos.

During the busy season, it’s not unusual to see a line of people waiting for the charity to open its doors so they can get their hands on a puppy for the morning. And it’s a win-win for everyone involved. The volunteers get a helping hand, the pups get a few hours out on the town with new friends, and YOU get to spend some precious time with a puppy… who you just might end up taking home with you.

Potcake Place is located in the Saltmills Plaza in Grace Bay. Hours of operation are 10 am to 4:30 pm from Monday to Friday, and 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday.
